Mrs Sue Anderson
Chair of Governors
Candidate Statement – Mr Nicholas Walker
As an ex-pupil and former Head Boy of the Heber, I would like to put my name forward for the position of Parent Governor.
After university, I was co-opted as a governor at the Heber and served a four-year term. I then served for ten years as a Parent Governor at Shocklach Oviatt C.E. Primary School during which time I chaired a number of committees and joining chaired the Governing Body.
I was involved in three Ofsted inspections and oversaw the appointment of the Executive Headteacher. Whilst a governor there, I was keen to develop teaching links with the Heber and, together with Mr Curry and the management team, I helped set up the ‘Aim Higher’ programme
which gives cluster primary school children access to extended teaching.
I have practiced as a barrister for more than twenty years and I specialise in serious crime and professional discipline. I was appointed as a Legally Qualified Chair of Police Misconduct Panels four years ago. I am a member of one of the largest sets of chambers in the country,
where I am Head of Wellbeing for staff and barristers. I also chair the Charity Committee who raise about £25,000 a year for local causes.
I live in Threapwood with my wife Naomi, and two children, Matilda (Year 11) and Caspar (Year 9). I would like the opportunity to represent all parents at the Heber and will work to make the school the best it can be for the students.
