Bishop Heber Science Fair on Monday 9th March 202026th November 2019
To coincide with British Science Week on Monday 9th March 2020, Bishop Heber High School will be hosting its annual ‘Heber Science Fair’.
We would like to invite your child/ren to take part in this exciting event by completing a project around the theme of ‘Our Diverse Planet’. This theme is deliberately open and could include anything from how animals are adapted to their environment to reducing single-use plastics to help save the planet, the only limit is your child’s imagination.
As well as displaying their projects, competitors and visitors will also have the opportunity to get involved with ‘hands on’ science demonstrations origanised by Techniquest and representatives from Chester University’s STEM outreach team.
Students can enter either individually or in groups of up to three and must complete a poster/display/model to fit on a standard size examination desk (60cm x 60cm). Their project should include:
• A clear title and aim
• Images and colour
• Results of experiments and/or research
• A conclusion
The event itself will run from 4.30 p.m. until 7 p.m. (participants will need to arrive for 4 p.m. to set up their projects and must be supervised by a parent/carer at all times). Please note that students and families will be responsible for tidying up the project at the end of the event.
The event is open to students from KS2 and KS3 (Years 3 to 8). Prizes will be awarded to the best project in each year group.
If your child/ren would like to be considered to enter a project for the ‘Heber Science Fair’ please complete the application form and return it to their teacher no later than Tuesday 14th January 2020 indicating the name/s of all members of their group (if applicable).
Please note that although we hope to be able to accommodate everyone, in the event that we are oversubscribed not all applications will be successful. We will inform you by Monday 28th January 2020 if your application has been successful.
