A Level Results

It was another record year at Bishop Heber High School for A-Level students with nearly 60% of all grades achieved being A or B and students achieving on average three quarters of a grade better than predicted in their chosen subjects. Graham Bibby, Assistant Head in charge of Post-16 achievement noted:

“The approach of A-Level results day is always a stressful time for all concerned and I am delighted that yet again our students have built upon previous success and have achieved another set of record results. These young people are a credit to their school and communities and are going forward into their futures exceptionally well prepared to meet the challenges of adult life. Their contributions go well beyond their academic success; they show tremendous energy, positivity and commitment to everything they engage in. Whether it be charitable work, Sport, the Arts or in their own personal triumphs they inspire us all with optimism for the world they will help to build.”

David Curry, the Head Teacher was delighted and noted that these wonderful results are a reflection of all the hard work of the students and their teachers and the invaluable support of family and friends. I am confident that all the students that have applied for degree courses will get their first choice of University because of the high caliber of the grades they achieved at Heber. I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the staff at Heber to wish all ‘Leavers’ our best wishes for the future.”

We are now preparing and looking forward to the start of the new school year when many of our students will return to our expanding Sixth Form, joining several new entrants from other schools in the area.

The strong results were reflected across the curriculum and reflecting Bishop Heber’s status as an International Languages College, 100% of students achieved grades A or B in both Spanish and French. Equally impressively 75% of all students studying A-Level Maths achieved the top grades as did those in Geography and Politics.

Individual stories of success included 10 students who achieved straight A’s in all their chosen subjects. Achieving 5 Grade A’s were Jasper Alexander formerly of Malpas, now living in Cambridgeshire (Philosophy), Hannah Kerr from Tattenhall (Chemistry) and Kate Mapstone from Tilston (Natural Sciences). Kate Allen from Whitchurch (Law), Rachel Dimelow from Chorlton (Chemistry). Laura Howarth from Whitchurch (English and Art History) and Hannah Rigby from Whitchurch (Human Biology) all achieved 4 Grade A’s and Jon Ankers from Oldcastle (Mathematics), Sam Green from Whitchurch (Sport and Exercise Science) and Mary Howell from Malpas (Architecture) achieved 3 Grade A’s.
