Courses
Sociology is the study of our society, and the people, groups and institutions within it. In this dynamic and challenging course you will learn about the ideas, theories and methods of sociological study.
Students follow the AQA Sociology course (no coursework).

The following topics will be studied in the first year:
 The Family
 Education
 Sociological Methods

In the second year you will study the following topics:
 Crime and Deviance.
 Religion
 Theory and Methods

Combinations and directions
AS/A2 Level Sociology can help lead to careers in journalism, advertising, market research, law, social work, nursing and teaching, amongst others. It should be noted that Sociology develops many of the valuable skills that employers are searching for.
Sociology works well as a standalone subject, but is complemented by the study of Psychology, History, Media, Government and Politics, English Language or Business Studies.
